This has one of my patented slow dreamy intros.
When young Albert was about 5 years of age and sick in bed, he was brought a gift by his father. The gift was a compass, with the needle pointing north as if by some magical force. The invisible magnetism awoke within Albert a driving fascination with the forces of nature that would spur his work for the rest of his life.
Wonder
words and music by William Belote © 2009 ASCAP
Magnetic needle Moving with certainty Pointing in a direction
Watching and waiting Perceiving observantly Quiet time introspection
Oh, how I wonder Of “something behind things, Something deeply hidden”
The sea of sensations Objects and reflections Often deceiving in words
But I can tell Maja My new perceptions Secrets and songs of the birds
Oh, how I wonder Of “something behind things, Something deeply hidden”
Age twelve – plane geometry Here are proofs in perfect lucidity
All around – beauty and mystery Some things can be known
Some things I must know
This school is a factory Rewarding memory Killing my inspiration
So God bless the library And teachers with empathy Knowledge lives in rotation
Oh, how I wonder Of “something behind things, Something deeply hidden”
